Portable Relational Query Language™
Check back frequently for information regarding our revolutionary PRQL™ technology currently in its early, but functional Alpha stages. PRQL™ is the first set of libraries of many to be developed by J3 Software Design to aid in the rapid and flexible design of multi-platform applications.
The PRQL™ libraries are being developed with the first beta of Visual Studio 2005 and targeting the .NET 2.0 framework in order to stay on the cutting-edge of development technology.
Support for generating several different distinct SQL dialects from a single well-defined XML source is nearing completion. Support for the Microsoft Shape syntax will also be included, allowing a hierarchical representation of data. The following database platforms/dialects should be supported initially:
- ANSI SQL 89, 92 & 2003
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 and newer
- Oracle 8 and newer
- Microsoft Jet 3.5 and newer (Microsoft Access 97 and newer)
- IBM DB2
- Sybase ASE
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- MimerSQL
Once SQL code generation is functional, focus will move on to the database schema, allowing a database structure to be defined and created in any of the above systems. The import and export of data will also work its way into the mix, allowing the entire data repository to be ported with little effort.
